Undergraduate TeachingTeaching in the Power Section of the Electrical & ComputerEngineering Dept. at LSU provides students with fundamentals of electro-mechanical energy conversion, power electronics, harmonics in power systems and power system operation. It is coordinated by LS. Czarnecki. Teaching is focused on three bloks of subjects, taught by L.S. Czarnecki, E.A. Mendrela and B. Harbour The first block, taught by L.S.Czarnecki, covers energy flow control by means of power electronics devices (EE 4460), generation of harmonics in distribution systems and their harmful effects on the system operation (EE 4480) and design of harmonic filters and compensators (EE 4002) for power factor and quality improvement. The second block, taught by E.A.Mendrela, covers electric machinery analysis (EE 4420) and their application in adjusible speed drives (EE 4000). The third block, taught by B. Harbour, covers analysis of distribution systems (EE 4430) and design of such systems (EE 4450). |
